[1]A hound shaped in southern Sweden
Many types of scent hound were kept in Sweden’s Småland region during the 19th century. The FCI standard describes a foundation of regional hounds, local Spitz-type farm dogs and English hounds; the first standard allowed naturally short or long tails.
[1]A hare and fox hound that works alone
The standard describes it as a scent hound for hare and fox, not a pack hound and not used for deer hunting. Its nearly square body should be strong without appearing heavy.
[1]A harsh black or brown coat with tan
The medium-length coat is harsh and coarser over the back and neck. It is black or liver-brown with tan markings; small white marks on the chest and toes are permitted. Both naturally short and long tails meet the standard.
