A broad round head, developed cheeks and large round eyes are characteristic. Ears are widely spaced with rounded tips.

Long dense hair and undercoat stand away from the body, with a ruff, breeches and bushy tail. These distinguish the longhair from British Shorthair; white divisions depend on registry rules.
