Ariege Pointing Dog

Temperament
Stable, Sociable, Docile
[1]A pointing dog developed from older Braques
The FCI standard says the Ariège Pointer most likely descends from older French Braques. Crosses with southern white-and-orange Braques in the 19th century gave the breed a lighter, more dynamic build.
[1]Revived after wartime decline
After the World Wars reduced its numbers, continued use by Ariège hunters helped prevent the breed from disappearing. In 1990, a group of breeders began work to preserve and renew it.
[1]Strong without heaviness, with a mottled coat
The standard describes a dog whose body is slightly longer than its height, with powerful bone but no excessive heaviness. Its white coat is mottled with fawn or flecked with brown.
