[1]A dog from Bali’s Kintamani region
The FCI standard gives Sukawana Village in Bali, Indonesia, as the origin and says the breed’s beginnings are unknown. It adds that Kuluk Gembrong, mentioned in old Balinese documentation, is believed to be its origin.
[1]A compact rectangular body with erect ears
The body-length-to-height ratio is 11:10, with a wedge-shaped head, erect ears and a sickle or curled tail. The standard gives chest depth as about half the height at the withers.
[1]A double coat in four standard colors
A short soft undercoat lies beneath a medium-length harsh outer coat, with longer neck and wither hair more evident in males. FCI colours are white, black, fawn and brindle. Biscuit ear edges are preferred, but optional, in white dogs. Small white chest, toe or tail-tip markings are allowed in the other colours; black masks are preferred in fawn and brindle.
