[1]Background and classification
GCCF’s British page covers both British Shorthair and British Longhair. GCCF recognised the longhair in 2017 and granted championship status in November 2021.
[1]Appearance and coat
A round face and eyes accompany a compact powerful body, broad chest and short strong legs. The thick-based tail has a rounded tip. Dense short fur and longer fur give different outlines.
[1]Coat and comparisons
British cats include self, tabby, tortie, pointed and white-patterned coats. Pointed cats have blue eyes, while tipped cats have green eyes; coat length and eye colour are useful comparisons.
