Basset Hound
Temperament
Charming, Patient, Low-key
[3]Background and role
Developed in Britain from French short-legged hounds, it follows scent in packs and works with endurance.
[1]Appearance
Short legs support a substantial body with moderate loose skin. Compare height and body proportions with Bloodhound.
[1]Coat and comparisons
Tricolour and lemon-and-white are common; JKC allows recognised hound colours rather than only tricolour.
