[1]A cattle dog from São Miguel in the Azores
The FCI standard describes a cattle dog from São Miguel in Portugal’s Azores, documented since the early 19th century. Its history is linked to the now-extinct Terceira Dog.
[1]A robust, slightly elongated cattle dog
The build is robust and slightly longer than tall. The standard notes that while driving dairy herds it bites low to avoid injuring cows’ udders.
[1]A harsh short coat with brindling
The short, smooth, dense coat is harsh, with light fringing on the tail and backs of the thighs. FCI colours are fawn, pale fawn with black overlay, and light-to-dark grey, always brindled. White is allowed on the forehead and from chin to chest, with small white marks on the forefeet, hind feet or all four feet.
