Ibizan Podenco
Temperament
Family-oriented, Even-tempered, Polite
[4]Background and human relationship
A hunting dog of Spain’s Balearic Islands, including Ibiza, known locally as Ca Eivissenc and elsewhere as Ibizan Hound or Ibizan Podenco. Resemblance to ancient depictions is not direct pedigree evidence.
[1]Build and coat
Large upright ears and a clean head and body outline are distinctive. JKC distinguishes smooth and rough coats; ears, leg proportions and texture can be compared with the separate Pharaoh Hound.
[2]Colour and comparisons
White-and-red, white or red self-colours are preferred. Fawn may be allowed in otherwise excellent rough-coated dogs but is excluded in smooth coats, showing coat-specific colour scope.
