A French lowland sheepdog selected to lead and guard flocks, also known as Beauce Sheepdog. Tan lower legs gave rise to the name “red stockings”.
[1]Appearance and coat
A large substantial muscular dog without heaviness, with smooth facial hair and a harder short body coat. Its outline contrasts with the longhaired French Briard.
[1]Coat and comparisons
Black-and-tan and harlequin occur, the latter combining blue-grey, black patches and tan. Tan marks the face, chest and legs. This harlequin differs from the white-and-black Great Dane pattern.
