[1]A black rough coat over soft undercoat
The black rough outer coat lies close to the body and grows longer on the chest, neck, backs of the legs and underside of the tail. The undercoat is soft and black; a little white on the chest and feet is tolerated. White on the tail or white socks are faults, distinct from the small chest or foot markings tolerated.
