Welsh Terrier

Temperament
Intelligent, Friendly, Spirited
[3]Background and classification
A Welsh working terrier historically hunting foxes, badgers and otters. Similar in appearance to the Lakeland, it remains a distinct breed with its own coat and colour scope.
[1]Appearance and coat
A balanced compact body wears a wiry coat. The practical working outline contrasts with terriers whose longer softer hair creates different face and leg shapes.
[1]Coat and comparisons
Black-and-tan or black-grizzle-and-tan is preferred. Black pencilling on toes and black below the hocks are undesirable. The boundary between the darker body and tan areas is a useful observation.
