[1]A sheepdog of the Pyrenees
The FCI standard describes a French dog used with sheep on farms and pastures in the Pyrenees. Its type and coat could vary greatly from valley to valley, while its character and behaviour remained consistent.
[1]Compact size, abundant energy
The standard presents a small, light dog full of energy, with a body slightly longer than it is tall. Its stride is short at a walk, but the trot is light, flowing and vigorous.
[1]Long coat and cadenettes
The dense coat is long or semi-long, with a texture described as between goat hair and sheep wool. A mixture of coarse and woolly hair may form corded cadenettes or felted locks that overlap like tiles on the back.
