The AKC standard defines Miniature as over 10 inches and up to 15 inches at the withers; Standard is over 15 inches, while Toy is 10 inches or under.
[1]A square outline with balanced proportions
The AKC standard calls for a square outline, with body length approximating height; bone and muscle should be proportionate to the dog’s size.
[1]A dense curly or corded coat
The coat is naturally harsh and dense when curly, or hangs in tight cords. AKC conformation requires an even solid colour at the roots, while allowing natural same-colour shading in blue, grey, silver, brown, cafe-au-lait, apricot and cream. Parti-coloured coats of two or more colours are disqualifying.
