[3]Background and classification
Developed for Australian pastoral work, its name comes from a Scottish water spirit. Dingo ancestry is disputed and is not treated as an established origin.
[1]Appearance and coat
An active supple body combines strong muscle with flexible limbs. Functional strength and endurance matter alongside the lean outline; body and leg proportions reflect pastoral work.
[1]Coat and comparisons
Listed colours include black, black-and-tan, red, red-and-tan, fawn, chocolate and smoke blue. Self-colour, tan distribution and reddish, brown or greyish hues offer distinct comparisons.
