Bouvier des Ardennes

Temperament
Playful, Hardy, Obstinate
[3]A cattle dog of the Belgian Ardennes
The FCI lists Belgium as its country of origin, while the UKC standard describes it as a cattle drover of the Ardennes. The UKC history also notes tracking deer and wild boar and a recovery from a small surviving population in the late twentieth century.
[1]A sturdy, nearly square build
The UKC standard describes a hardy, muscular dog with a nearly square outline. Its dense double coat, with a rough outer layer and thick undercoat, is part of its working-dog type.
[1]Coat colours other than white
UKC accepts all colours except white, with mixtures of grey, black and fawn hairs commonly seen. Small white spots on the chest or toes are allowed.
