Kazakh Tazy

Temperament
Balanced, Calm
[1]A dog shaped alongside Central Asian pastoral life
A sighthound from Kazakhstan, the Tazy is linked in the FCI standard to Central Asian history and nomadic life. The standard describes it as one of the Kazakh “Seven Treasures,” a hunting helper associated with loyalty and friendship.
[1]A long-distance hunter using sight and scent
The FCI standard says it hunts hare, fox and hoofed game, alone, in groups or with hunting birds. It combines sight and scent and has endurance over long distances.
[1]A light frame with fringes on the ears and legs
It is medium to above medium in size, lean, muscular and elegant. The short, soft body coat contrasts with long ear fringes and feathering on the legs and tail. There is almost no undercoat in summer, while a well-developed one may grow in winter.
[1]Preferred height and proportional balance
FCI gives a desirable height of 63–70 cm for males and 58–65 cm for females. A deviation of 2 cm either way is acceptable if the characteristic proportions and harmony of a sighthound are maintained.
