A Thai dog associated with Bangkaew village

The FCI standard places the breed’s origin in Bangkaew village in Thailand’s Phitsanulok province. It also records a traditional origin account involving a local black-and-white female dog and a now-extinct wild dog.

A breed shaped by selective breeding in 1957

The FCI standard lists its utilization as a companion dog. It says selective breeding from single litters in 1957 produced the generations seen today, and that the breed is now bred throughout Thailand.

A neck ruff and patches on white

The body is square and well proportioned, never low on the legs. The double coat forms a rich neck-and-shoulder ruff and a plumed tail. White is combined with clearly defined patches in black, red, fawn, tan, grey and other listed shades.
