The larger size of a poodle traditionally used in waterfowl work. AKC treats Standard as one of three size varieties; in 2000 UKC separated Standard Poodle from its Poodle registration category covering Miniature and Toy.
[1]A shared build across the size varieties
The AKC standard gives the three size varieties the same proportions and general conformation, with size distinguished by height. A Standard Poodle measures over 15 inches at the highest point of the shoulders. Body length and height are equal, giving a square outline.
[2]A curly or corded coat
The AKC standard allows a dense curly or corded coat and specifies solid colors. Parti-color is disqualified under this AKC standard.
