Alpine Dachsbracke

Temperament
Intelligent, Friendly, Fearless
[3]Background and human relationship
An Austrian-associated hound used to track wounded deer and hunt hare and fox, recognized in Austria in 1932. UKC's Drachsbracke spelling corresponds to FCI's Alpine Dachsbracke.
[1]Build and coat
Short legs support a sturdy rectangular body with dense double coat and firm muscle. Its low outline invites comparison with Dachshunds without merging the distinct breeds.
[1]Colour and comparisons
Dark deer-red is preferred, with or without interspersed black hair. Black with defined rust-red markings and a white chest star is also allowed. Red ground, dark intermixture and clear points are separate observations.
