Bouvier des Flandres
Temperament
Strong-willed, Courageous, Affectionate
[3]Background and human relationship
A working dog of Flanders across Belgium and France, used for cattle driving, hauling and powering butter churns. Mechanization changed these roles, while guarding and police work made use of its working abilities.
[1]Build and coat
A relatively short broad body and muscular limbs give substance without sluggishness. Body depth and outline offer comparisons with longer-bodied or leaner erect-eared herding dogs.
[1]Colour and comparisons
Grey, grey brindle and grey with black overlay are typical, while solid black is also allowed. JKC permits a small white chest patch. Brindling and overlay are distinct observations from lighting-dependent shades.
