[1]A wirehaired type developed in the 1930s
The UKC standard says the breed was created in the 1930s by cross-breeding the Hungarian Short-Haired Vizsla with the German Wire-Haired Pointer.
[1]A pointing and retrieving hunter
It is a versatile hunting dog with a strong nose, used to locate and point game and to retrieve it. The standard also notes its determination to follow scent while swimming.
[1]Russet gold and conditions for white markings
The colour ranges from russet gold to dark sandy gold, uniform on the body with slightly darker ears permitted. A white chest patch up to 5 cm across and white toe markings are allowed. Dark brown or light yellow, parti-colour, a larger chest patch and white feet are UKC eliminating faults, which prevent the dog from receiving awards.
[1]A close wire coat and water-repellent undercoat
The strong, dense wire coat lies close to the body and is given as 2–3 cm long in the standard. It has a dense, water-repellent undercoat, while the longer hair must not hide the body outline. Pronounced eyebrows and a harsh beard are characteristic.
