[3]Finland's barking hunting dog
The UKC standard describes the Finnish Spitz as native to Finland and the country’s national dog. Its main use was hunting; continuous barking while on track explains its nickname as the barking hunting dog. UKC recognized the breed in 1992.
[1]A square body and fox-like expression
The UKC standard describes a nearly square outline, with body length from forechest to buttocks equal to height. A pointed muzzle, small erect ears, curled tail and dense double coat give it a characteristic Spitz outline.
[1]A golden-red coat
The UKC standard allows clear golden-red shades ranging from pale honey to deep auburn. The coat is lighter on the inner ears, cheeks, chest and underside; limited white markings may appear on the toes and forechest.
