A history linked to medieval bird dogs

The French Spaniel traces to dogs described as bird hunters in the Middle Ages. The FCI standard records that James de Connick wrote its first breed standard in 1891 and that it has been revised as the breed developed.

White and brown patches with flowing feathering

The white-and-brown coat has irregular patches, with slight or moderate flecking and roan permitted by FCI. Brown ranges from cinnamon to dark liver. Long, wavy feathering appears on the ears, backs of the legs and tail.
