[1]A bulldog developed for cattle work in southern Brazil
The FCI standard says European immigrants brought bulldogs that developed into this southern Brazilian breed. It was used to locate, catch and drive stray cattle in fields and native forest, and formerly to hold cattle in slaughterhouses.
[1]A muscular, slightly rectangular medium-sized dog
FCI describes a muscular, strong-boned medium-sized dog. A body-length-to-height ratio of 11:10 gives a slightly rectangular outline, with broad shoulders. Heights are 51–58 cm for males and 49–56 cm for females.
[1]A short smooth coat and naturally short tail
The FCI standard describes a naturally short tail and a short, smooth coat of medium texture, neither soft nor wiry. It allows all coat colours except merle. The tail must not exceed two-thirds of the distance from its root to the hock.
