German Spitz

Active, Devoted, Smart
[3]Background and human relationship
A German spitz associated with watchdog and companion roles in homes and farms, with size categories. Related spitz entries such as Keeshond and Pomeranian are not automatically collapsed on name resemblance.
[1]Build and coat
Abundant undercoat, a mane-like ruff and a plumed tail over the back accompany a fox-like head and small pointed ears. The photograph shows a Mittelspitz, one size variety rather than a size reference for every category.
[1]Colour and comparisons
The consulted JKC standard lists white, black and brown for Grossspitz, and additional orange, grey and other colours for Mittelspitz and Kleinspitz. Colour scope varies with size, so patches and tipping are read alongside the relevant category.
