Picardy Spaniel
Temperament
Gentle, Even-tempered
[5]Adapted to hunting in Picardy
It is an old breed adapted to the varied habitats of Picardy in northern France. The FCI standard says local hunters needed a hardy, versatile dog and that the breed remained concentrated in its home region for a long time.
[1]A pointing spaniel for small game
It is known for a fine nose and a firm point. The FCI classifies it as a pointing dog and describes it as suited to small-game hunting as well as life with a family.
[1]Coat color distinguishes it from the Blue Picardy Spaniel
It has a sturdy body, strong limbs and a gentle expression. FCI gives heights of 57–62 cm for males and 55–60 cm for females. Its main distinction from the Blue Picardy Spaniel is coat colour: grey mottling with dark brown patches, often with tan on the head and limbs.
