[2]A terrier created by Sir Jocelyn Lucas
The Lucas Terrier is a small working terrier begun by Sir Jocelyn Lucas in early 20th-century Britain. The United States Lucas Terrier Association standard describes the traditional line as originating from Norfolk Terrier and Sealyham Terrier crosses.
[1]A small, sturdy working terrier
The standard describes a sturdy, symmetrical working terrier in an old-fashioned Sealyham type. It stands about 25–30 cm tall and should be capable of quick, sudden movement.
[1]A weather-resistant coat with a hard jacket
The weather-resistant coat combines a soft, dense undercoat with a medium-length, fairly harsh and wiry outer coat. The United States Lucas Terrier Association standard describes hand-stripping the traditional hard jacket.
[1]Colored and white-ground coats
The association standard describes predominantly colored coats in tan or a black or badger-gray saddle with tan. Predominantly white dogs have colored patches, with ticking permitted. This is the traditional Lucas Terrier standard, which distinguishes its line from the Sporting Lucas Terrier.
