Spanish Mastiff

Temperament
Intelligent, Affectionate, Kind
[3]Background and human relationship
A Spanish guardian of Merino and other sheep during seasonal movements and at pasture, protecting rather than primarily gathering the flock. A standard was written in 1946, with farm and property guarding among its roles.
[1]Build and coat
A large dog with a massive head and powerful muscle, covered by semi-long body hair. Balance matters in motion as well as standing. Region and colour provide comparisons with the distinct Pyrenean Mastiff.
[1]Colour and comparisons
Colours are broad, with yellow, fawn, red, black, wolf and deer self-colours valued. Brindle and parti-colour also occur in the account. Self-colour versus patches alone cannot establish breed identity.
