German Wire- Haired Pointing Dog
Temperament
Affectionate, Eager, Enthusiastic
[3]Background and human relationship
Developed around the turn of the twentieth century in Germany for versatile field work in harsh weather, combining rough-coated stock with shorthaired pointing-dog influence.
[1]Build and coat
A harsh protective coat and alert expression accompany powerful free movement. Eyebrows and beard contrast with the shorthaired pointer; the wirehair is a distinct breed.
[1]Colour and comparisons
JKC lists brown roan, black roan, brown and light roan. Roan may have larger patches, and brown may have chest white; hair intermixture and discrete patches are separate features.
