Griffon Belge

Temperament
Alert, Proud, Watchful
[4]A Brussels-area lineage
The FCI standard places the Griffon Belge alongside the Griffon Bruxellois and Petit Brabançon among the small Belgian dogs, tracing all three to the rough-coated “Smousje” of the Brussels area.
[1]Rough coat and facial furnishings
The Griffon Belge is a small, powerful dog whose body is nearly square. It has a harsh, slightly wavy outer coat with an undercoat; the beard, moustache and brows form its characteristic facial furnishings.
[1]Black or black and tan
The FCI standard accepts black or black and tan. Tan markings appear on the legs, chest, cheeks, chin, above the eyes and inside the ears; red-brown mixed into black is permitted. Its standard colours differ from the red-focused Griffon Bruxellois.
