American Staffordshire Terrier

Temperament
Good-natured, Confident, Smart
[3]Background and human relationship
Developed in America from bulldog and terrier backgrounds, it received the American Staffordshire Terrier name in 1972. It remains distinct from the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
[1]Build and coat
A muscular stocky body shows considerable strength for its size without a tall leggy outline. Chest width and body-to-leg proportions complement the head in comparison.
[1]Colour and comparisons
JKC allows solid, parti-colour and patched coats but discourages more than 80% white, black-and-tan and liver. Observed colour variety differs from show preferences.
