A medium square-built dog whose short smooth coat reveals the muscles in motion. Strength and a flowing outline distinguish it as a breed separate from the Miniature Pinscher.

Self-colours run from deer red and reddish brown to dark red-brown; black-and-tan has defined tan on the brows, throat, chest and feet, differing from an overall reddish coat.
