Mi-Ki

Temperament
Adaptable, Intelligent, Sweet-natured
[2]A companion breed begun in the 1980s
The UKC standard traces the breed to Mikki Mackin in Wisconsin, who began developing a small, long-haired dog with a calm nature in the 1980s. Because breeding records were incomplete, the exact combination of foundation dogs remains unknown.
[1]A small, elegant companion dog
The UKC ideal is a small, friendly and elegant companion dog with fine to medium bone. Its character description emphasizes adaptability, intelligence and a sweet nature.
[1]Long-coated and smooth-faced forms
The UKC standard specifies a single coat without undercoat and describes both long-coated dogs and a smooth-faced form without beard or moustache. The long coat is soft, with a slight wave permitted rather than curls. The smooth-faced form has a close-lying semi-long body coat and a fully plumed tail. All colors and markings except merle are acceptable.
[1]Ideal height and show limits
The UKC ideal adult height is 7–9 inches, about 17.8–22.9 cm. A height over 10 inches, or 25.4 cm, is an eliminating fault that prevents awards. Adult weight is up to 10 pounds, about 4.5 kg; excess weight is a fault. The standard therefore distinguishes the height elimination from the weight fault.
