[3]An old German rough-coated pointer
The UKC standard presents it as the oldest German rough-coated pointing dog, protected by its breed club since 1892 and not interbred with English pointing breeds. The FCI standard for the Deutsch Stichelhaar gives the same history and defining features.
[1]Hard coat, beard and brows
This is a strong medium-to-large pointer. The UKC standard highlights its stiff, hard coat, moderate beard and pronounced eyebrows; the body is square or only slightly longer than it is tall.
[1]Brown and roan colours
The UKC standard accepts brown, brown with a white chest patch, brown roan and light roan, with or without patches. These colour terms describe the UKC standard and are not assumed to apply identically across registries.
