Turkish Van & Vankedisi
Temperament
Intelligent, Affectionate
[1]Background and classification
GCCF presents Turkish Van and all-white Vankedisi together, tracing them to the Lake Van region of Turkey. The group includes the coloured-head-and-tail pattern and entirely white coats.
[1]Appearance and coat
A large muscular body has strong legs, a broad wedge-shaped head, substantial ears and large oval eyes. The silky semi-long coat grows longer and thicker in winter, with a plumed tail.
[1]Coat and comparisons
Van-pattern cats have colour mainly on the head and tail with a largely white body. White Vankedisi may have amber, blue or odd eyes. White spotting is a pattern, not proof of breed identity.
