A once widespread hunting dog of Czechia and Slovakia

The UKC history describes the Cesky Fousek as once widely kept in the region of modern Czechia and Slovakia. It nearly disappeared during World War I and was restored through planned breeding.

A versatile pointer for field, water and woodland

It is a medium-sized wire-haired pointer used in field, water and woodland. The standard notes strong hunting instincts alongside trainability and devotion to its handler.

A harsh coat with eyebrows and a beard

A soft, dense undercoat lies beneath harsh, coarse topcoat and longer guard hairs. Hair above the eyes forms eyebrows, and longer muzzle hair forms a beard; standard colors include dark roan and brown. UKC lists dark roan with or without brown patches, brown with ticking on the forechest and lower legs, and unmarked brown; predominantly white colouring is a serious fault.

Sex-specific size ranges and a layered coat

UKC gives males a height of 23.5–26 inches (about 60–66 cm) and females 23–24.5 inches (about 58–62 cm). The harsh topcoat is 1–1.5 inches long (about 2.5–3.8 cm), with longer guard hairs particularly evident on the forechest, shoulders, flanks and topline. This layered coat is characteristic alongside the eyebrows and beard.
