[3]A Tatra mountain shepherd and guardian
The FCI standard describes a mountain and shepherd dog used to guard farms and borders. It also records work guarding cattle, driving poultry and other livestock to pasture, and accompanying or guiding shepherds.
[1]A powerful build and a white double coat
FCI specifies males at 62–70 cm and 36–44 kg, and females at 59–65 cm and 31–37 kg. Body hair is 5–15 cm over a fine, dense undercoat, shorter on the head and legs, without a back parting or feathering on the tail and buttocks.
[1]White is the standard color
The FCI standard specifies white, allowing but not preferring yellowish shading at the ear bases. Its historical account says the breed was traditionally bred only in white to distinguish it from wild beasts at night. Distinct yellow patches are not permitted.
