French Tricolour Hound
A large French pack hound
This large French scent hound works in a pack on big game. The FCI definitively recognized the breed in 1959 and published its current standard in 2023.
[1]A large, well-boned and muscular hound
It is large and elegant while remaining well boned and muscled. The standard height is 62–72 cm for males and 60–68 cm for females.
[1]A tricolour pattern in short, fine hair
The hair is short and rather fine. FCI specifies tricolour with a black mantle of varying extent, preferring bright or copper tan and admitting grizzled wolf colour. Black and tan on the cheeks or lips and blue or tan flecking on the legs or body are not sought after; that wording is not a blanket disqualification.
