[4]A French water dog
The FCI standard names the breed Barbet (French Water Dog) and describes it as a French water dog that searches for, flushes and retrieves wildfowl hidden in water vegetation.
[1]A balanced medium-sized build
UKC describes a balanced medium-sized dog, slightly longer than tall, with a broad, deep chest. A thick, woolly coat protects against cold and damp, and the chin carries a long, abundant beard.
[2]A long wavy or curly coat
The UKC coat is long, woolly, wavy and curly, covering the whole body; without regular brushing it may form cords. Colours are solid black, grey, brown, fawn, pale fawn or white, or pied coats with varying white areas. Shades of red-fawn and pale fawn are accepted; albinism is disqualifying.
