[4]A sheepdog and guardian from southern Russia
UKC describes a dog used to herd and guard flocks on the Russian steppes. It recognized the South Russian Ovcharka in 1996, then changed the name to South Russian Shepherd Dog and moved it to the Herding Dog Group in 2009.
[1]A large, strongly built sheepdog
UKC describes a lean body with massive bone and well-developed muscles. The body is slightly longer than tall, with a deep chest and strong, straight back. The powerful hindquarters are set wide and parallel.
[2]A long harsh coat in pale standard colors
The long, coarse, dense coat has a well-developed undercoat. UKC colours include white, white and yellow, straw, shades of grey, white lightly marked with grey, and grey speckling. Black, brown, unlisted colours and strong speckling are serious faults.
