Sussex Spaniel

Temperament
Affectionate, Loyal
[3]Background and human relationship
A gundog of Sussex, England, documented at least from the eighteenth century and noted for giving voice while hunting. Dedicated breeding preserved it through periods of decline.
[1]Build and coat
Substantial and powerful yet expected to work actively, with a characteristic rolling gait. Body depth and movement contrast with the more streamlined Field Spaniel.
[1]Colour and comparisons
The colour is rich golden liver, shading toward gold at the tips, with a golden impression preferred over dark liver or puce. Depth and sheen distinguish related brown tones.
