Affenpinscher
Temperament
Confident, Famously funny, Fearless
[3]Background and human relationship
A small companion associated with southern Germany and rough-coated pinscher stock, recorded at shows from 1879. Its monkey-like face provides a distinctive comparison with other small dogs.
[1]Build and coat
A small compact body has rough facial hair that accentuates the expression. Muzzle, brow and head texture differ from smooth-coated pinschers; furnishings and underlying build can be viewed together.
[1]Colour and comparisons
The current JKC standard specifies black outer coat and black undercoat. Its history mentions other colours, which should not be confused with the present standard. Facial and body texture remain useful observations in a black coat.
