[1]A dog depicted in ancient Peruvian art
The AKC describes this as an ancient breed widely depicted in pre-Inca ceramics from cultures including the Vicús, Mochica, Chancay, and Chimú.
[1]An elegant, square-proportioned sighthound
It is an elegant sighthound with a square outline and long legs; females may be slightly longer in body. The UKC standard describes an impression of speed, strength, and stamina, as well as smooth, elastic skin.
[2]Coated dogs are part of the same breed
Hairless dogs may retain small amounts of hair on the head, legs and tail; the coated variety has a short-to-medium single coat. UKC says both may occur in the same litter and recognizes small, medium and large sizes with varied skin and coat colors.
