Temperament
Independent, Friendly, Inquisitive
[3]Background and role
A large hound linked to Belgium’s St Hubert dogs, used in scent tracking for game and people.
[1]Appearance
A strong rectangular body has loose head and neck skin. JKC rejects extremes of wrinkles or weight that hinder tracking.
[1]Coat and comparisons
Black-and-tan, liver-and-tan and red occur; saddle versus mantle distribution changes the appearance.
