The Rottweiler standard describes a black base with rust-to-mahogany markings. It specifies their positions and outlines, including above the eyes, on the cheeks and sides of the muzzle, throat, chest, inner legs and under the tail; rust markings should not exceed ten percent of the body colour. The coat is not divided evenly between black and mahogany.
