Sedge

AKC lists “Sedge” for the Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Its standard accepts any shade of brown, sedge, or deadgrass and does not prefer one color over another. The American Chesapeake Club’s illustrated guide describes sedge from reddish yellow through bright red to chestnut and says deeper tones on the ears and muzzle are normal. Neither the standard nor the registration row sets a precise shade boundary.
