Black, Silver Undercoat

This coat label specifies a black outer coat with a silver undercoat beneath it. The undercoat is a shorter, dense, soft layer of hair. The Akita standard allows the undercoat to differ in colour from the outer coat. The label does not fix a precise shade or how much undercoat is visible at the surface.
