This mouse is recorded in savanna areas of West Africa. Its original description reports variable coat color and specimens collected inside or near dwellings.
The dorsal coat ranges from light brown to dark gray-brown; the flanks are paler and the underside gray. Many specimens had a white chest patch, and the tail was longer than the head and body.
The authors describe it as a savanna species and report that all specimens they examined were collected in dwellings or immediately nearby. This is a 1978 specimen record, not a claim that it lives only with people.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
