An older record from Liberia describes different male and female plumage and birds in low forest undergrowth. The IUCN assessment uses the English name Orange-breasted Forest-robin.
Adult specimens collected near the Junk and Du Queah rivers in Liberia had gray-black cheeks and moustachial stripes, orange-rufous chins and throats, and rufous edges on wing feathers in males. Females had ashy cheeks and lacked the male's dark stripe and rufous wing marks.
The same account places the birds among brushwood and undergrowth in low forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
