The Large Pied Bat is an eastern Australian bat associated with cliffs and caves. It has glossy black fur, long ears, and a white V-shaped fringe beneath the wings and tail membrane.
It has long, prominent ears and glossy black fur. Broad white fringes run beneath the wings and tail membrane and meet in a V near the body.
It roosts in caves, cliff crevices, old mine workings, and unused mud nests of Fairy Martins. It probably hunts small flying insects below the forest canopy; maternity groups of about 20–40 females have been recorded from November to January.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
